What to Do Before, During and After a Flood?


Before a Flood:


  • Listen to the news.

  • Assemble disaster supplies.

  • Be prepared to evacuate.

  • Discuss flood plans with your family.

  • Prepare medications and first aid supplies.






During a Flood:


  • Be alert.

  • Monitor your surroundings.

  • Monitor Weather Radio, local television and radio stations.

  • Evacuate immediately, if you think you are at risk or are advised to do so.

  • Shut off the electricity at the circuit breakers





After a Flood:


  • Wait until it is safe to return.

  • Watch or listen some news.

  • Do not enter a building if it is still flooded or surrounded by floodwater.

  • Check for structural damage.

  • Clean and disinfect everything that got wet.
